#Hip hop: New guys

One thing I love about Hip Hop at its core, is its honesty, in whatever form it comes. However explicit it may be, the truth is always exposed in raps, carried through hooks and the beat never fails to set the tone that bears a clear message. These upcoming rappers have a spark in them which makes them gems in ‘today’s most popular genre ‘, though in my opinion they aren’t getting the recognition they deserve. Here are a few of the ‘underground’ artists I’ve rounded up this week.

Saba:

Saba never disappoints, he always kills every track he’s on with directness and his flow is straight fire.

Smino

Smino is a unique talent that has very much grown artistically in recent years. He was a rare find and his music altogether is blend of candid, chill and upbeat vibes.

Vince Staples

Vince Staples always comes with the hype beat tunes! He has a carefree not-so-serious attitude in his music, but still expresses his social outlook and self-awareness in his lyrics.

6LACK

6LACK has released a lot of great music this past year. He is one of those ‘sad’ artists, which I listen to when I’m in a pensive mood. ‘Sad’ in the sense that his music exposes raw vulnerability in the harshness of life, and his songs pack a punch.
